5. GMC MultiPro and Chevrolet Multi-Flex Tailgate

Inner and Outer Gates

  • Two buttons on the tailgate control the inner and outer tailgates. The upper button opens the inner gate, and the lower button opens the outer gate

  • After you press the upper button to open the inner gate, you must pull the gate out. The outer gate will automatically open after you press the lower button. The outer gate will not open if the inner gate is open

Primary Gate Load Stop

When the primary gate is down, unlatch the stop from the inner gate and pull it into the vertical position

Helps keep long items from sliding out when the primary gate is open. Be sure to rest stored objects against the load stop to reduce shifting of loads during motion

Easy Access

With the outer gate open, press the upper touch pad on the tailgate handle and let the inner gate open

Provides easier access to your truck’s cargo

Full-Width Step

With the outer gate opened, unlatch the inner gate and fold it down. Then, unlatch the step and fold it down fully

Step is rated up to 170 kg (375 pounds; includes weight of person plus cargo they’re carrying)

Inner Gate Load Stop

With the primary gate latched, lower the inner gate for a second tier of storage

Then unlatch the inner panel to serve as a load stop

Inner Gate With Work Surface

  • With the primary gate latched, lower the inner gate

  • Serves as a useful work surface

MultiPro Tips

  • Don’t open the inner gate with the primary gate open if there is a hitch ball or trailer attached. This will damage the tailgate

  • To get both gates to open in one motion, press the lower button and then quickly press the upper button on the tailgate touch pad

  • You can also disable the inner tailgate from opening. When your key fob is within one metre (three feet) of the rear bumper, hold the upper touch pad on the tailgate handle for three seconds. Your taillamps will flash to alert you that the inner gate has been disabled

  • After disabling the inner tailgate, you can open it again by holding the upper touch pad again for three more seconds until the taillamps flash

Q&As

If the tailgate is open, will it alert me?

No. There’s no specific alert to let you know the tailgate is open. However, on the MultiPro™ or Multi-Flex™ Tailgate, if your inner gate is ajar, you’ll see a notification in your Driver Information Centre (DIC).

If the inner gate is ajar, you will not be able to open the primary gate without closing the inner gate first.

How does the GMC MultiPro™ Tailgate compare to traditional GMC tailgates?

The GMC MultiPro™ Tailgate has been tested to the same standards as every other GMC tailgate.
