You can use the myChevrolet skill for Alexa to control some of your vehicle’s functions remotely. All you need to get started is an Amazon Alexa device, an eligible connected vehicle service plan and your Chevrolet Account sign-in credentials. With your myChevrolet skill for Alexa, you can control your  properly equipped vehicle from home or wherever you have Alexa.

 


Setup

Use the myChevrolet skill for Alexa to remotely control some of your properly equipped vehicle’s functions. To get started, you’ll need an Amazon Alexa device, a connected vehicle service plan and your Chevrolet sign-in credentials.

  1. Go to alexa.amazon.ca or the Amazon Alexa mobile app and log in to your account.
  2. Search for and select the myChevrolet skill. Click "enable."
  3. You must link the skill to your Chevrolet Account with your username and password. Your username should be your email address.
  4. Then you’re set to ask Alexa to perform a function of the skill:
    • Remote door lock/unlock
    • Remote vehicle start/stop
    • Vehicle health checks 
  5. Remote vehicle control features require you to use your PIN. If you forget your PIN, you can change it on your Chevrolet Account page. You can also push your blue OnStar button and an Advisor will help you set up a new one.
  6. Additional features may be added to the myChevrolet skill over time.

 


What to Ask Alexa

  • For help:
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet for help" prompts Alexa to read a list of things the myChevrolet skill can do

 

  • For remote commands:
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet to start my car"
      • Alexa will ask for your PIN 
      • If you have multiple vehicles in your Chevrolet Account garage, the myChevrolet skill for Alexa asks which vehicle you want to start
      • Remote stop, remote lock and remote unlock will similarly ask for your PIN 
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet to stop my car" stops the car you started most recently 
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet to lock/unlock my car"

 

  • For vehicle health:
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet to check my fuel level"
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet how’s my engine oil"
    • "Alexa, ask Chevrolet what’s my tire pressure"
 
  • For vehicle management:
    •  "Alexa, ask Chevrolet what vehicles are in my garage" and Alexa will list the vehicles in your Chevrolet Account garage

Why would I want to use the myChevrolet skill for Alexa instead of the myChevrolet® mobile app?

Alexa is totally hands-free. If you have an Alexa-enabled device in your kitchen and your vehicle is properly equipped, you can remote start/stop your vehicle's engine or lock/unlock your vehicle while you're fixing lunch.

How do I disable the skill?

Like all Alexa skills, it can be disabled through your account at alexa.amazon.ca or in the mobile app.

How do I remove a car from my skill?

  1. Go to alexa.amazon.ca or the Amazon Alexa mobile app and log in to your account. 
  2. Click the menu button and select your skills. Click on "Your Skills." Click the myChevrolet skill and select "disable skill." You will need to connect your skill to your account again. Click "enable skill" to start that process; you will need your username and password to log in.
