About icon. About Front and Rear Park Assist

Available Front and Rear Park Assist can provide distance alerts to nearby detected objects in front of or behind your vehicle to help you park and avoid collisions at low speeds.

Front and Rear Park Assist Can Help Warn You to Help Avoid Collisions During Low-Speed Parking

Front and Rear Park Assist uses multiple ultrasonic sensors located on your front and rear bumpers.

When you’re driving at low speeds, the sensors may detect objects up to 2.4m behind your vehicle and up to 1.2m in front of your vehicle.

You can turn this feature ON and OFF using the Rear Park Assist System control or, in some vehicles, through the vehicle Settings menu.

When You Get Closer to an Object, You Hear Different Alerts

When an object is detected, you'll hear low-pitched beeps or, if your vehicle is equipped with the Safety Alert Seat, you'll feel pulses on both sides of the seat. The closer your vehicle is to a detected object, you'll hear more beeps or feel more Safety Alert Seat pulses.

When an object is within 0.6m of your rear bumper, you’ll hear five repeating low-pitched beeps from your rear speakers, or if your vehicle is equipped with the Safety Alert Seat, it pulses five times on both sides.

When an object is within 0.3m of your front or rear bumper, you’ll hear a continuous low-pitched tone, or if your vehicle is equipped with the Safety Alert Seat, the seat will pulse five times on both sides.

Front and Rear Park Assist Also Shows Alerts on Your Infotainment Display

As your vehicle gets closer to a detected object behind you, you will also see caution triangles that change from yellow to amber to red on the Rear Vision Camera display.

On some vehicles, the Park Assist display will also display guidelines that show you the path of your vehicle. On these vehicles, you will only receive alerts of detected objects in your vehicle's path.

Things to Remember When Using Front and Rear Park Assist

Front and Rear Park Assist is not designed to detect all children, pedestrians, bicyclists, animals or objects below the bumper.

You should remember to always check the area around the vehicle before backing up and make sure the ultrasonic Park Assist sensors are clean as well. Locations of these sensors vary by vehicle, so consult your vehicle Owner’s Manual to see where they’re located. They look like small circular indentations on the front and rear bumpers.
