Before you get started, make sure you are familiar with the Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert feature. Some things you may notice about the feature are part of normal operation.

If your vehicle has Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, when you turn your vehicle on, you’ll see an amber icon light up in your left-/right-side mirror and hear chimes for 5 seconds. You’ll also see this icon when the feature detects a moving vehicle in your side blind zone or a vehicle rapidly approaching your side blind zone.
If your Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert feature is not detecting other vehicles, there are several possible explanations:

The Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert system is working properly if this happens. This is normal — your vehicle doesn’t need service.
Depending on your vehicle, the Lane Change Alert system may not work properly if you’re towing a trailer or have an object attached to the back of your vehicle.
